Employment and skills

were do we find employment?
online, word of mouth, newspaper

how difficult is it?
depends on your experience, and personal situation for example: A 16 year old school leaver who has just played computer games all their lives are not likely to get into ILM wheas someone who has a killer portfolio of finished film projects and years of industry experience in creating CGI effects are more likely.

what kind of job are you looking for?
I am looking for model makers jobs such as miniature designer for Games workshop, models and props for theatre and films, marquette maker for own animated projects, puppet and prop maker for Aardman, Mackinnon and Saunders and Laika animation studios. also I would be very interested in working wor such theme park attractions like Maddame Tussauds, and large sculptures like Aden Hynes sculpture studios who I had the privilage of working for before.

how are you going to find it?

with the internet. also the absolute best way is to go to the company and leave your graphical C.V at the front desk. meeting your employer in person is much more powerful.

jobs analysed:
Most the jobs I am interested in are long hours, high skills, specialised, traditional and digital skill set. intense detail work.

what can I do to keep skills up to date?
keeping a sketch book and drawing daily elements from imagination as well as actual life drawing reference.
there are on line courses, degrees and projects.

Working on own, with friends and colleages to continue to make creative projects often which helps practice.

Take life drawing classes and draw everything alot.

Green stuff miniatures

Green stuff or Kneadatite is on of my favorite mediums to make miniatures out of.

There are loads of images here and I could not decide what to use... so here is an idea of some of my process.

These are some of my photos of my war gaming miniatures that I have hand sculpted. some of these will feature in my portfolio:
